The authors develop and introduce an assurance ecosystem framework (hereafter: assurance ecosystem) and a theory repository that includes over 200 multi-disciplinary theories. Combined, the assurance ecosystem and theory repository should aid audit scholars in identifying and applying relevant theories to address audit research questions.
